s10man69 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 First off, I cleaned with Driver Pro Cleaner, to get rid of NVIDIA Drivers, then installed the CD Drivers, and nothing...errors.. I've done everything in the book..uninstalled NVIDIA Drivers, ran Driver Cleaner Pro, followed instructions to a T, installed .NET 1.1 nothing. Cleaned again to get rid of ATI leftovers, and installed .NET 2.0, nothing. And this is all with the 6.1 drivers from ATI's Site. Cleared CMOS, reformatted HDD and clean install of windows, .NET 1.1 installed, then drivers again..nothing...cleaned again...installed .NET 2.0, drivers again..nothing... Here's the errors I get everytime when trying to install drivers, get these just after I agreed to their "Terms" or whatever... "INF Error Video driver not found." and then this one pops up "Severe Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup." I heard that some ATI Cards have trouble on DFI Boards... Here's the pictures, from package to install... all are 420kb or smaller.. box inside box (note the packing) http://img472.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...219small9ux.jpg inside box again http://img227.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...220small3jr.jpg ATI Packaging http://img227.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...222small0qd.jpg Here she lays..havent touched her yet..=) http://img230.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...223small8dv.jpg Contents http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...224small9bi.jpg Heres another one, notice the corners on the left side of the static bag, top and bottom.. http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...226small8yf.jpg here's the SEAL : http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...227small0ra.jpg Here's my comp setup here at school...had to mix it up a bit http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...228small8jv.jpg with the 7800gt in, thought it was the last time i'd see her in there..WRONG http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...235small9qo.jpg Now here is the killer, I was sooo hoping I was wrong when I knew it got thrown around and beat up...(look at the corner I focused the pic on...I havent even opened it yet..just took it out of the box and set it on my desk. http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...252small3xv.jpg here the other corner opposite of the one above http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...255small1mn.jpg ATI x1900xtx and MSI GeForce 7800GT top http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...258small7mi.jpg ATI x1900xtx and MSI GeForce 7800GT bottom http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...278small3bf.jpg Installin x1900xtx that doesn't work..boo..and yes, I grounded myself...lol http://img491.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...281small9tl.jpg Pluggin it in http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d...293small2gs.jpg Now, as you all know, this is the DFI Flashscreen, one with my other card, and one with the x1900xtx.. Here is the difference between the 2 bootscreen/flashscreens : 7800GT http://img395.imageshack.us/my.php?image=7800gtsmall4hk.jpg ATI X1900XTX http://img395.imageshack.us/my.php?image=a...xtxsmall8ng.jpg I don't know whats going on here..the Fan turns on on the vid card..and I can get into windows and such just fine..but then, I can't install the drivers... I may have forgotten a few things..so ask away... Thanks
Thracian Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Your wasting your time. You CANNOT install the ATI 6.1 Cats with your x1900. Use the supplied drivers on the CD which are based on ATI 5.13 Cats. You will not be able to use anything but the cd drivers untill ATI releases Cat 6.2 drivers. Another fine example - Blame the motherboard when in fact it's a typical case of user error.
s10man69 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 OH yea, forgot to mention that..i'll edit..It all started when I first installed the drivers from the CD, then I went on to the d/l'ed drivers...I get the errors with the CD drivers too.. Yea, I'm blamin the mobo..Are you kidding me? Im blamin the Card...where did you get off thinkin Im blamin the mobo? idiot. wtf man... I just said that I've heard that there are some that don't work with DFI Boards, couple people told me that they have, and thats from my other forum i'm in... Thracian Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Calling people names here won't get you far. remember your the one with the problem.. Trying to install Cat 6.1 drivers which don't even HAVE the x1900 series cards in the INF is foolish. hence why I said "user error" From the splash screens it def looks like you have a faulty card there. Can you rma it?
s10man69 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 yo, my bad...just been gettin a lot of heat from others on the other forum...some think i'm a n00b or sumthin cuz it's not workin, but of course, I was the first to this card...I'm goin to try and rma, but the place I got it is out of them. So I'm gonna have to go through ATI, hopefully they kept som just for these problems.

Guest Dynamic Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 This is very odd, getting that kind of discolor at post, doesn't look good i think. I really hope you guys get to the matter of this soon. Maybe a simple RMA would be better time consuming. Just couple of more days until the 6.2 drivers are out, can't wait.
