Inu_Yasha Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 I've got a question... What's the bare minimum amount of ram needed to run a p4 2.26 or a p4 in general? I was planning on just buying a stick of PC2100 128mb Kingston ram for a P4B266 mobo (i already ordered a stick of PC2700 ram and i don't know if its compatible with that mobo). d3bruts1d Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 Bare minimum ammount of RAM to run a P4? umm.... Well... it really depends on your Mobo, and what applications/OS you plan on running.... If your Mobo will only take DDR, than that'd limit it it to 128M... as I've not seen a 64M DDR strip... Was that what your looking for? Generally, I don't build systems with less than 256M anymore... and 512M seams to be my "standard" now days....
RaTeD-R Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 Yeah, I wouldn't go anything less than 256. 128 is probably a good bare minimun TODAY....but in 1 month we'll probably be telling you diffrent. Go w/ at least 256 if you can.

Inu_Yasha Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 Dangit... (goes off in a corner to cry). Well... what happenes if you put a stick of PC2700 ram into a mobo that accepts PC1600/PC2100 ram? I'm running win 2k and i plan on encoding.....
