I just came home and see you're still struggeling: did the installation process go as it should? No messages about a missing file or something? What happens when you're forced to boot in safe mode? Does the first normal boot end up in a restart, or it goes directly into safe boot?

it reboots and gives me the options of:

safe mode

safe mode with networking

safe mode with markup

options that worked last

normal mode

the only option that works is safe mode, no missing files reported. i also used a pc pitstop diagonstic tool that my step dad lent me and it reports no missing files.
