sound-tekkie Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Got my new build all set up, which consists of my sig. Installing windows Xp Pro, thinking yer... smooth so far, when it finished went through setting it up then upon restart the load up screen for XP professional came up loaded and jst as it said applying settings to go to the logon screen a blue system error screen flash on and as quickly as it had come on it had gone and my system had rebooted. I let it run through again and on the XP load up screen it froze for a second and then rebooted, i chose to go to safe mode and it booted all the way and allowed me to get into safe mode and i thought ok normal mode requires more gfx, ill install the drivers, restarted computer loaded up optimal defaults in the bios saved and exited booted up pc and same thing occured, got to the xp pro load up screen and it froze and rebooted . i then formatted and reinstalled windows, and tried again, still had the same problem, i tried a repair, problem still occured. Will some1 please help before i go on a mass murder rampage. Cheers in advance
lowboy Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Did you follow build guide? Did you qualify ram with memtest before installing os. If not need to follow build guide here:http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...04&postcount=
sound-tekkie Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 I did but i dont have SP2 ... is it required because id rather not have it on my system as ive had bad experiences with it and gaming lol

lowboy Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 They say it is required to have sp2 on install disc slipstream copy if needed. How long did you run memtest did you run aleast 5full passes and 20 passes of #5.Problem sounds memory related.
sound-tekkie Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 i will format and try again, if your right it means forking out more money which i dont have :@
lowboy Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Check your memory before any thing else. Install OS with only 1 stick ram in orange slot fartest away from cpu.
sound-tekkie Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Before formatting i have jst tried a stick of ram which is different to the one i use, 256mb pc3200 on its own and it still had the problem so im guessing its not a memory problem, however i will run the mem test once my hdd is formatted
lowboy Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 For you to say that it must be first time with dfi mobo.
sound-tekkie Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 lol, it is my first time... bad experience tbh... why do you say that anyway?
lowboy Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Because very very few get memory running right with default settings, and if you build with out following the guide ,your in for a world of pain. Take my world for it follow the guide, as people that build comps for a living have problems when they don't follow the guide. sound-tekkie Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 i did follow that guide when i first set my pc up with my old hdd that wouldnt work lol i think i loaded optimal settings though when i got my new one. Will mem test configure my settings or give me settings that might work?
