Blackhorn Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Wow! I've heard alot of people saying how much cooler they run with the XP-90 so I bought one (and AS5). I also used AS5 on my chipset heatsink. WTF was that crap on there? I swear to God it looked (and felt) like a few layers of old dried out masking tape. Now I'm running CPU 40*, PWMIC 40*, chipset 43* while running prime95. I like it! I can feel the air blowing all around the MoBo now. Great buy. EDIT: This OC to 2.66Ghz

shogo Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I dont know, im not too sure about the xp90 i mean... right now i am using it wit as5, my cpu is kind of in the idle state, winamp playing, smartgardian, msn, and notepad.. and my cpu is 38c, PWMIC 40c, and chipsed 51c. I have 2 120mm fan Intake, and 1 120mm fan outtake. i assume that without the xp90 temps could be higher, but i dont think its worth for a normal use. during load my cpu temp reaches 53c. If your sig is up to par I can tell what your problem is. I'm sure your CPU fan is very quiet, but it only pushes 28 CFM of air. My fan pushes 24.6~78.7CFM of air as the CPU gets hotter. In smart guardian you can change the temps that the fan operates and reaches full speed. At full throttle I can hear it, but I'm used to hearing fans while my compter is running. When it's not at full throttle it is pretty quiet. Cost $12.
Blackhorn Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Also I didn't mention it, but I was comparing the temps to my stock HS temps. I went down 9 or 10* idle (22* now) right through 100% on my CPU, and my PWMIC about 6 or 7* lower. My chipset dropped about 5 or 6 degrees just by using AS5. texicanfirstgen Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I want an xp-90 but which fan has been the question to hold me up. jabtech recommends the Panaflo 92mm L1B, but many around here say M1A. I've also read that it's not a good idea to connect the fan to the motherboard directly.
shogo Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 yes it is probably because of this 28cfm fan ehhe, i wanted to have something silent... i think its the price to pay! i wanted to keep the noise level under 22-24dba... over that its too loud
ginge87 Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 yes it is probably because of this 28cfm fan ehhe, i wanted to have something silent... i think its the price to pay! i wanted to keep the noise level under 22-24dba... over that its too loud just get a higher speed rated and higher cfm fan and hook it up to a fan controller. u can adjust the speed/noise to however u want then. thats what i do with my fans and everythin is good
