RezaR1 Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I just finished my first build and knock on wood, everything seems to be working fine. I am already thinking about upgrading the memory. Currently I am using 1 GIG (2 X 512) Corsair XMS memory. I want to purchase additional 2 GIG (2 X 1 GIG) Corsair XMS memory and I wanted to know if I can use my old ram along with the new ones for total of 3 GIGs. That means 1.5 GIG per channel? Is this possible and if so, will it be stable? Thanks.
RGone Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 You most likely will have some sort of complication. By the way it would be 2 gigs on one channel and 1 gig on the other channel. RGone...
doox00 Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I hear its best to not run 4 sticks of ram.. stability issues can arise and usually end up running higher timings. I tried with 4 sticks of ocz and had problems, moved to 2 1gb corsair sticks and have had no problems since. Buddy of mine on a neo 2 platinum nforce 3 board has the same problems until he went to 2 1gb sticks.
