Blackhorn Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I'm about to buy a new PSU and was intending to get the OCZ Powerstream 520W. I read that it may not be enough if you want to run SLI and have alot of other things running. I want to have the option to run SLI in the future. I will also be having 5 HDs, 1 or 2 optical drives, sound blaster 2 ZS platinum, either onboard sound or another SB live card (used for teamspeak). I am also looking to OC my 3000+ venice to 2.5ish Ghz. Should the 520W suffice or should I buy the 600W instead? I don't want to have to replace it in 6 months or so. Thanks. bp1019 Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 With that current setup, even factoring in SLI, that OCZ should be fine. Its got plenty of amps on the 12V lines to power everything.
Slammin Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I have not had any problems with mine. I also use a OCZ PS 520 in another rig here and it's rock solid as well.

Cyberparasite Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 seems to always work good no matter what i throw at it and that warranty is tough to beat.

(both as in the ocz520w and the fortron 600w) and I heard on that fortron 600w one, two of the 12v rails are sata? is that bad because then only 30a = the other 12v's ? lowboy Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 The fortron will put out max amps to any 12v rail so no load problems.

I want to know because I am going to buy a new one to replace my junky antec one and since they're both ~$140 I need to make a decision

OCZ 520w Powerstream is MORE than enough psu to run SLI + multiple hdd's + watercooling etc AndyOCZ will be along shortly to answer the OCZ Powerstream questions (I have old 520w, he's sending me one of hte new 520w SLI ones so I don't have to keep asking him to answer these)
AndyOCZ Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Hi, all existing stock of the 520w Powertream have the 8 pin (2 x 4 pins you connect together), PCI-e connectors for 2 cards and should run your system just fine. Just don't load it up with cathode lights. They are real power drains. Plus you get my help if you need it. I am not familiar with the Fortron but 12v output of 60a with a 600w PSU sound like monkey doo to me. Don't think that is possible.
