Raphie Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Yes, can't wait, curious to see how that sets everybody back with their scores again...
Cythrawl Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Yes cant wait for what will probably be a slideshow that wont run on my hardware again, in an attempt to make you upgrade your hardware even tho you dont need to. (It didnt suceed last time and it wont now either.. My PC is oblivion ready and that's all I care about right now.. Yes a game made me get my new GFX card and cooling and PSU.. Not some synthetic benchmark program) I still havent seen 3dMark 05 run smooth as silk on top of the line hardware.. Yes it runs nice, but its still not really high FPS (Single cards at any rate), so you gotta shudder when you think what this beast will do.. I'll get it for sure, just to see... but as a benchmark program its not "Real world" at all. Its never been since 3dMark 03. Real world is running repeated timedemos of the latest game using cutting edge tech. Case and point... Doom 3 ran better on my 9800pro than the Battle of proxycon did on 3dMark03. Doom3 did MORE than proxycon and ran better, ergo 3Dmark's benchmark score was pretty much void IMO Remember this is my opinion before anyone starts flaming.. Smoken Joe Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Cythrawl The only 3dmark that I really likes was the 2001 though iit is out od date non of the others really looked like a game I would play so it did not really matter it also did not look all that good compaired to say the Nvidia demos such as dusk- expecaly with the Ati render path. Could not agree that how games play is more inportant but 3Dmark does push developement of video cards forwared to some extent though it can be losided not really being game orented. But it is a usefull too to some extent just hope it is more game orented this year. Just rember that this years king is next years budget performance card. Cythrawl Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 LOL!! well according to the forums, an SLI 7800GTX is getting around 11FPS with 3dMark 06. Also on the same forum it states that a X850XT is not enough. I'm looking more and more forward to it as the day increases (Dripping with sarcasm) The game tests are SM3.0 only tho, so that puts most of the ATI'ers out of the loop too... Glad I dont own an ATI right now, for what its worth..
