NINaudio Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I keep losing my video.....my monitor just goes blank as though the pc were turned off, though it isn't. I have to reseat my video card to alleviate the problem.
pshootr Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I have had the same thing happen over here with different boards. It is likely a bad slot connection. Be sure to push it in all the way, and pay attention to your cards movement while you tighten the screw. If the card moves in the slot while tightening then that may be the prob. Sometimes bending the metal plate a little (on the card) will help this.
EdLSmith Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 One item that causes no end of pain and usually goes unnoted is if you tighten the screws holding your board to tight, it can not move to meet demands when inserting expansion cards such as the Graphics board and result is the fit is bad resultiing in sig losses. I always tighten the screws and then back off slightly. you probably already know about this, just a thought.
NINaudio Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Here's what is happening now: I get those dots all over my screen. I've reseated the card and they come back. I also get missing, smeared textures in games. This happens now with every driver I tried......

NINaudio Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 yeah, I kinda figured it was the video ram.....However, it didn't do that when I first installed everything.... I did however find the root of these problems..... the mobo did not like the 4pin to 8pin converter. I went back to just the 4pin and it got rid of the losing video issue, one more reseat then alleviated the artifacts. Desktop is now fine and 3dmark has run fine. I am, however, still having issues with game freezes. I have tried multiple drivers (81.85, 81.94, 81.98, 78.01) and it still occurs. I have only tried on one level of Sniper Elite, will try some other games and a different level on Sniper Elite when I get home from work.
