Blackhorn Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I'm thinking about upgrading my 2 HD RAID array. I'm looking at changing to a 4 HD RAID 0 array. Currently I have 2 Seagate Barracuda SATA drives. To make a 4 HD SATA array I only have to buy 2 more HDs. To make a 4 HD SATA II array i will need to pick up 4 HDs. Is there much difference in actual speed between the two to justify shelling out an extra $130? If so what Drives are recomended? I love my Seagate drives but have noticed that the SATA II Seagates have 11ms seek times. Is this noticable? Thanks for any insight. Smoken Joe Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 There is not that big of a diffrence between SATAI and II. You can look into this in dept in the off topic sticke if you wish. Seek time is more vital for server apps and highly fragmented drives.
