PMichaud Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I've read all the threads I could find on the subject of onboard lans not being found, but they all included solutions for other mobos with different BIOSes than I have. Also, I can't figure out which version BIOS I have beause the screen flashes too quickly to read, so I'm not sure 3what to do about that. In the device manager, only '1394 Net Adaptor' shows up, no Ethernet adaptor -- in the BIOS, on the "Integrated Peripheral" menu, I have "MAC LAN" set to "AUTO" -- it's that, or disabled. There is no option to disable the 1394 thing. What should I do? edit: By disabling the logos showing up at first, the screen stayed up long enough to read: 8/31/2005 is my BIOS version date
wevsspot Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Enter your BIOS and check the following settings; MAC LAN - AUTO MAC MEDIA INTERFACE - RGMII MACHINE MAC (NV) ADDRESS - DISABLE Save, exit reboot and see if that fixes it. PMichaud Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 MAC LAN is set to AUTO MAC MEDIA INTERFACE is set to RGMII there is no "MACHINE MAC(NV) ADDRESS option -- the media interface thing is the last on the list.
PMichaud Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 The screen looks like this: http://img.neoseeker.com/v_image.php?articleid=1831&image=9 I've checked for the latest BIOS version, and it appears that I have the latest available. wevsspot Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 PM, That screening shows your interface set to Pin Strap, but your reply says it is indeed set to RGMII. Which one is the right information?
PMichaud Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 That is a screen shot of someone else's system, but it's the same set of options that I have available -- mine is set to RGMII, although when I got it, it was Pin Strap. edit: Do you have AIM, or MSN or something to make this a little more efficient? hmf Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 You have loaded the ethernet drivers haven't you?
PMichaud Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Well, not exactly -- I installed the "system driver" from the website (http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/driv..._FLAG=A&SITE=US ), but there's no Ethernet Driver as such -- is there one for another mobob that I could try using? hmf Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Hmm..well that appears to be your problem. The cd supplied with your board should have the ethernet drivers. Or else d/l the latest set of drivers from Nvidia or Dfi. Run the .exe and you should get the option to install ethernet drivers. You probably overlooked it the first time around. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_wi...2_amd_6.70.html
PMichaud Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I got the board OEM, so I'll have to download -- I've tried the drivers on the DFI site, so I'll try the drivers from nVidia now to see if that works. Edit: the nVidia drivers are the same as the DFI download, no? Edit2: I'm going to upgrade to SP2 and see if that helps. It's a pain though, because I have to use a 256meg flash card to xfer the files back anbd forth, and sp2 is 266megs (unzipped). wevsspot Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I'd obtain the drivers from Nvidia's website. Use the Network drivers found in release 6.66 I'd avoid 6.70 as there are reports that some of the drivers in that release are rather buggy. PMichaud Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 The Ethernet driver is both 6.70 and 6.66 are Ethernet NRM driver version 4.82 (WHQL) -- does it make a difference in that case?
