noahsark1126 Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I just volt modded my XFX 7800GT bios from 1.4 to 1.5V and my OC went up from 496/1130 to 513/1170, and my 3dmark05 score went from 8200 to 8440. However, my GPU load temps also went up from 57 to 64. Is that too high?
Gipse Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Hi, I would say it´s ok. How do you "load" your gpu? Try ATITOOL (yes I know, but it´s great for artifact scanning and stressing). Are you running your VF700 on 5V or 12V? I used this cooler on my old X800XL and connected it to a fan controller, better than stock solution. applejuice Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 My 7800GT at 470/1100 used to go up to 72° C at times, when playing a GPU-heavy game like FEAR. Even with my new cooler it can hit 64 in FEAR, but this is an almost silent system so there is not a lot of airflow. 64° is well within the limits. Gipse I load it in either 3dmark05 or call of duty 2, both give about the same temps. I am running the vf700 on 12V. I'll try ATITOOL, thanks for the tip. Boosted420a Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I have an eVGA 7800GT. Mine is overclocked to 495/1164 just using the optimized function. I don't get artifacts, so I assume I can go higher, but my load temps hit 65C playing NFSMW on max settings 1280x1024, it idles around 42C and I'm running an NV Silencer5 Rev3. It dropped my temps over 5C from the stock cooler, so I'm happy with that, plus it kicks the hot air out of the case.
