Expert revisions

What are the 'good' revisions of this board? Mine is AA0; I know this because I've just ripped it out of my case in despair and can now see the sticker. It sux - the one time I got it all working, fantastic, but it was just the one time. Surely there are fixed versions?

I think you guys chase revisions way too much as a cure-all. I have two much earlier "experts" than the one you show and they work fine. If your mindset about revision were accurate then you would need a revision no longer made. That does not make any sense. A bad board? Possible!!! Bad configuration? Possible!!!

My 3.0Ghz on air entry into the overclocking data base is done with a very early 'expert' with the cut trace near SPDIF sockets and that mobo was a charm. BUT ah hah the changes to drive/dram strength and 'voltages' that I had to configure took me about 1.5 hours to sort since I had run the earlier NF4 non-expert series before.

Put a good solid configuration sig in place and list what seems the problem. Then might be able to suggest something from mild to rma.

RGone...

PS: ah hah a small signature down there already now I see after I push submit. Now what in hale seems the problem other than the cpu hates freezing?

Never got as far as hooking up the Vapo, it was all tested on air.

I had it running, it fell over at 350 HTT as I was testing HTT. I reset the CMOS. It wouldn't boot. Then, I removed the battery, I gave it 8 hours reset, I followed all the best advice about the sequence of doing this.

The final problem was that I could not boot into XP with optimised defaults - it would get to the XP boot screen and reboot. When it came back up, 2 red leds. Leave it for 20 minutes, boot Windows, crash, reboot, 2 red leds. Wash rinse repeat. Reset the CMOS again, load optimised defaults, same thing. Try to load Windows install CD. Same thing. Weekend disappears. Fun factor nil.

If it worked once, why not again? You can see why I've given up on it.

Before I RMA this board, anyone else seen this type of problem? It has nothing to do with CPU, gfx, RAM because I've since set up my Asus A8N32-SLI with these and everything worked perfectly first time, even SLi. I'm going to be peeved if I get the same board back and it just took a week of letting the CMOS drain on a reset or something.

I have same revision i think and board has been working perfectly. I thought the revision was A00 but it could have been AA0. Didnt have any problems with original bios or the new one. I also know someone who got 02 (or something like that) revision of the board and its working perfectly too. I dont think revision matters that much.

^^that signature should be removed for bad taste^^ :D

well, i know it is an issue when installing on the NvRaid with another drive connected to the silicon image, windows writes ntdlr and other parts of your MBR onto the SI drive instead of where it is supposed to...which is plain retarded, i duunno why that happens...it caused me a huge headache, others have had the same problem
