noahsark1126 Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I have my Athlon x2 4200+ at 2520 mhz (240x10.5) at 1.450 vcore (in bios). I don't care about the half multi because I already have to run my memory on a divider so whats the difference. I don't want to give my proc too much voltage because it needs to last a while, but I feel like i should be able to hit 2600 at least. Is that reasonable? How many volts does it take to get a Manchester core to 2600?
bakermancan Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Thats like asking " How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop?" ....because seriously...the world may never know.. There isnt a given voltage for that...only a general area which will vary depending on your specific setup....some cpu like stock volts and will OC without voltage increase..some like increased volts..its really hard to say.If you try to raise volts and the electical current from your PSU fluctuates even slighty it could be a disaster. Like you said...your cpu must last a while... so v1.5 max should be safe and stable as a general basis if you have good cooling......this MAY/MAY NOT get you to your desired 2600 mhz...but you could alsso just put the multi @ 11 then you have 2640 mhz which is even better

I would set the multi to 11X and take the FSB to 260 and the Vcore to 1.5 set the HTT to x3 and run stress prime and see how it goes . you may have to mess with the ram timings to get it fuly stable but this is a first step. go over here and ask thies peopl for some more information FAST too, http://forums.amd.com/index.php?
