NINaudio Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 you can only do it with evga cards you have purchased within the past 90 days.
Confined Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 It's kind of dumb. You have to pay the difference of the two card's prices, so if I wanted to send in my 7800GTX 256MB for a 7800GTX512MB I would have to pay like $300... read the terms and conditions throughly. p0tter Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 I think the setup program is smart, its an option that no other manufacturer offers and I think its geared towards those who buy the newest cards. Money to BURN

If I wanted to continue to wait in the line for the 512mb, it was only around $150 to upgrade. They also give you the opportunity to stay in line, and if they cant give you the 7800GTX 512mb, then you will have the chance to upgrade to the next line of cards coming out. pretty awesome IMO. personally I had a problem with the step up website, i sent a email, and the person who responded (within 10 minutes of me sending the email), gave me his DIRECT line to call him and help me figure it out. now that IS customer service. pb, out. You have to send them your old card though? There is no gain at all...you end up paying the total of the newest card, just in two seperate payments basicaly. wakerider017 Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 So when it asks you for the price you paid.... Do you have to actually put the true price you paid? or can u put what it retails for?
NINaudio Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 you need to provide the sales receipt

Its a huge gain for people that just bought the top of the line card only to have it replaced two months later by a 512mb version of it. In my case also it was far far easier to get the 512 as evga reserved a number for previous cutomers...I had it about a week after they were available. AND they don't care if you remove the heatsink or anything, as long as everything is put back together and shipped back the whole cost goes towards a brand new card. EVGA says, pay the difference, give us your old card, and thats all. wakerider017...So when it asks you for the price you paid.... drka0tic Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Here is the info: http://evga.com/stepup/default.asp I think its a great thing. I just bought the 7800GT n516 from NewEgg for $299. Seeing how prices on PC gear drop drastically fast, the 7800GTX should be close to that price in 90 days. Thus, I can trade in my card for basically nothing. eVGA Rulez!!
