EurYnomE Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Was wanting to order another gig of ram... to make a total of 2gig... wondering if four 512 duel channel cards would work? If not, i guess i'll have to sell my gig and just order a 2gig kit...
EurYnomE Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 the ram i'm looking at is 195$ and is the corsair xms pc3200 on newegg.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145491
RGone Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 YOU may well save yourself a lot of gray hair by selling off 2x512's and moving straight to one of the 2x1gig kits you see listed in the threads HERE... RGone...
EurYnomE Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 haha, so basicly your saying it would probably be a pain to get all four of the 512's to work right?? Does the ultra-d even support two sets of duell channel?
StephenC Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 haha, so basicly your saying it would probably be a pain to get all four of the 512's to work right?? Does the ultra-d even support two sets of duell channel? yes it does......but the memory is controled by the processor. And as RGone stated it is better and less painful for 2x=2gb then 4x=2gb If all is right in the world and you have the right processor the very best you can hope for with 4x=2gb is 400 at 2T. Again that is a maybe.
RGone Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Sure it does if the 4 sticks are from about the same batch/lot shipment and if you know exactly how to set them up manually and have the sticks the board really likes. Then it is pretty straightforward at 2T but there again the good 2x1gig will run the 1T setting pretty easy. That is why it really is not worth it to do the hassle and all. RGone...
