Bongo Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I just got a new NF4 SLI-DR Mobo, this is my first 64 build. I got a 3800 X2 AMD Processor. I am trying to use my memory from my old Athlon xp machine. I have 1 OCZ 1GB PC3200 stick and 2 OCZ 512mb PC3200 sticks in my last machine(Giga-byte GA-7NNXP mobo) i could run the 1 gb stick in slot 1 and the other 2 512 sticks in slots 3 & 4, respectively. This enabled dual channel memory mode and was quite excellent. But I cannot get my new DFI board to boot with all three sticks in the machine. I had to leave the 1gb stick in by itself in slot 1 just so I could get my machine up and running. I have many different memory modules arrangements, has anyone else had any experience with this type of setup? My BIOS revision is the newest, dated 06/23/2005
boatasiaus Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 1) First a foremost create a signature like mine before the cops show up 2) You cannot mix and match ram on this board. Personally, I would sell the 2x512's and buy a matching OCZ 1GB stick. 3) A good source of info for setup can be found Build Guide
red930 Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Not much can happen until you get your sig built. As soon as you have it updated, post in this thread again.

soundx98 Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 PSU: ENERMAX 350 watt a little below the recommended 480watt minimum
Bongo Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 I cannot find that recommendation on the dfi site... the wattage is fine, amperage is more important, of which I have alot. 26A on the +12 lead.
soundx98 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 hope you don't think I was coming across as a smart butt. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...54&page=1&pp=10 You may also want to try BigToe's 623bta or this 704-2bta. Both available on the Tmod Bios Flashing and Utility CD.

Both available on the Tmod Bios Flashing and Utility CD. heh, bigtoe... but seriously, I have not heard of the Tmod Bios Flashing and Utility CD. I just got done reading a post about it, but it does not really tell what it does. I know it flashes the bios, but what is different about 623bta or 704-2bta? I mean what are supposed to do? hope you don't think I was coming across as a smart butt.http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...54&page=1&pp=10 maybe alittle, but its all good. I will purchase a new psu in the near future, but right now I am more worried about getting back to 2 gb of ram... I notice alot of people having to use different slots to get ram to work. I was only hoping someone had come across this before with these boards, this is my first DFI board, so I dont know jack about them. hmf Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Manual provides that 3 sticks of ram is a no go. Either 1, 2 or 4.
soundx98 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 I thought BlackDragon had covered it. Manual says 1, 2, or 4 I don't know anyone who has pulled off what you are trying. Mentioned the PSU as it's one of the 1st things forum members look at in a sig. The BigToe bioses seem to work well with MANY types of memory. Tmod's excellent CD can be found as a "sticky" in the Bios factory. Good sticky's here EDIT: whoops, hmf was here already
Warrio Poet Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Although amp rating is important, frankly the 24A on the 12v rial isnt very high in comparison to what is recommended for a rig like yours. Most supplies will have 30A+ on teh 12v rail...taking into account the supplies are not SLI.
