foodfightr Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 My case has three temperature probes that look like a long black wire with a metal tip. They are labled Case, HDD and CPU. 1. HDD: Where on the drive? Top/Bottom? 2. SYS: How would I mount this on the chipset? The DFI fan thing. 3. CPU: Using a TT BT. (H-Clamp->Temp Probe->Copper->CPU) sound good? migo Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I have the exact situation. Looking everywhere I can to get answers. I have copper overhang on my heatsink so thought I would put there, but do not know how to actually glue or attach it.
dab Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I use superglue to attach one to the side CPU's integrated heat spreader, below the clearance of the HSF. Another i have simply wedged inbetween hs fins on my GPU, which i consider an ambient gpu temp. The hdd one can be taped down, glue or even just wedged into a seam
SkewdLogix Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I have 6 temp probes. All are taped on using thermal conductive tape. The first one is attached on the side of the IHS on the processor with the proper clearance so the HS mounts properly on the IHS. The second one is mounted on the side of the core of the nf4 chipset just underneath the VC-RE Evercool again ensuring that there is the proper clearance for mounting the HS. The third is on the side of my inner RAM stick and on the side between both sticks. The fourth is on the backside of the lower VGA card on the metal backplate. the fifth is on the PWMIC heatsinks next to the CPU area and the last one is mounted on the metal backplate on the underside of the Raptor. Branjo Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I also think putting them somewhere on your Rig where they are out of direct contact with airflow, I mean dont have a fan blowing on your sensor it may be off more than you would like. ianmknight Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I use a spot of supper clue, and I mean a spot. Basically I put a drop out of the bottle on a bit of scrap plastic, CD case or old CD somthing like that. Then I hold to heat sencers to the item CPU,RAM whaterver with a little tape. Then with the POINT of a pin I collect a little supper glue from the drop and run it along the temprature sencer and the item. Give it five min to take hold then remove the tape carefully! bestmancajun Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I rap the sensor in thermal tape, then insulate it with 2 layors of electrical tape. If temps are on, whats the point in adding sensors? Add a sensor to your memory, video memory and use one for ambient temp so you can actualy use the readouts.
