colelt1 Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 PWMic = Power management integrated circuit (it think), its a rectangular chip at the top right of the board. I ziptied my Stock AMD cpu fan to the motherboard tray, and the other end of the fan to the 4 pin P4 connector and it sit right above it. The sensor for the PWMIC is farther down from the chip though, the sensor sits around the IC's with the heat sinks on them. Either way, my fan blows across the pwmic and down past the heat sinks too. My PWMIC temps have dropped from 55 to 44. My chipset sits around 44 on lower fan speeds (3000-4000) and 42 on high speed (7000rpms). The PWMIC is by far the hottest area on my pc, and I think a small fan over it helps alot, and there have been reports of instablilty if the PWMIC goes >

I probably have nothign to worry about then if I use a Thermalright SI-120 and a 120mm fan - should be able to cool the CPU and the PWMIC area. My chipset is mighty hot though. And probably the cause of my instability with 3DMark05. So in keeping on topic, what is the max core speed of the x2 at 1.4v for most of you? I don't remember mine anymore. I'm now at 2.62 @ 1.6v
colelt1 Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 1.350v = 2279mhz (baseline)(34c) 1.375v = 2321mhz (+.025v + 42mhz)(36c) 1.400v = 2360mhz (+.025v + 39mhz)(36c) 1.425v = 2388mhz (+.025v + 28mhz)(37c) 1.450v = 2401mhz (+.025v + 13mhz)(38c) 1.475v = 2430mhz (+.025v + 29mhz)(38c) 1.500v = 2460mhz (+.025v + 20mhz)(38c) 1.525v = 2470mhz (+.025v + 10mhz)(39c) 1.550v = 2480mhz (+.025v + 10mhz)(41c) 1.582v = 2500mhz (+.025v + 20mhz)(42c) Im gonig to change my bios soon to see if that helps any. I also adjusted a few timings and re did all my power cords and hope it helps some. Im having alot of trouble getting my memory to do DDR600 right now. Tenz Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I get my x2 3800+ and some liquid cooling tonight, I will be happy with a 24/7 oc of 2.4ghz... hope it can manage that! My little venice that I had could do 2.8ghz with under 1.5v so lets hope this X2 doesn't dissapoint too bad
gotamd Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I'm running a 3800+ Toledo CCBWE 0529TPMW with a TCaseMax of 67c. Here's my current overclock. The BIOS is set to 1.525v. Not too shabby (at all). BTW, I highly reccomend the 704-2BTA BIOS. It's worked great for me
Tenz Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 how did you know that was a toledo? cpuz is showing it as a manchester, what are some other (possibly more accurate) programs that can verify what core you have?
gotamd Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Other programs (such as Central Brain Identifier) read it as a Toledo and I think you can also tell by the other codes. A good number of the older cores were Toledos with half the cache disabled.
naddie Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I'm spoke too soon. Though dual prime stable, it crashes when I add 3dmark03 to the mix. I wonder how many people actually dual prime and run 3dmark at the same time. I did it and found that while memtest and dual prime passes 10 hrs and more (and canrun all 3dmarks by themselves 12 hrs and more stable), if you mix them up, they might lock up/crash. Stock speeds I do not have that issue. I found my sweet ULTRA STABLE (actually, still testing - 3 hrs into the test though) at 2.5 GHz (250x10) at 1.475v. I urge you guys to try it too. I thought my OCing was done when memtest, 3dmark, and dualprime was a-okay, but i was dead wrong. Gotta do dual prime and 3dmark03 at the same time to bring this stabiliy issue out. I was a bit disapointed with my OC, but just realized everyone else here with 2.6 and 2.7 GHz OCs probably just did the memtest/dualprime tests only (like i origitnally did when i got my 2.6 ghz).
