black_dought Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Hello, very very new to DFI-Street and I just bought a DFI LanParty NF4 Ultra-D. I have a question concerning what type of chip cooler would you recommend for a AMD Opteron 150. Keep in mind I only purchached the chip, not the cooling device that comes with it. I have been looking at the Cooler Master Aquagate R120 and R80. Also intersted in the Zalman 7700cu which is infact to big for this mobo because of the layout.(was told this by someone who attempted to add it to their mobo). I am for certain there are better CPU coolers out there. Im leaning towards water for my decision unless persuaded otherwise. Im looking to push this Opty to or as close as possible to 3.0GHz. Help me guys, was recommended this site by a good friend of mine. Also my motherboard comes in this wednesday, I was wondering which BIOS update to download, also where because this is infact my first DFI board. THanks. Trebaruna Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 If you want to really push your chip you'll need some high end watercooling. Nowadays high end air is matching low/mid end water at a fraction of the cost, so if you want something *really* special cooling-wise prepare to fork over some dough... I would humbly suggest that that particular water cooling kit is not up to that kind of task.
