DemonKcsF Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Hope someonr can answer this for me - sorry for sounding ignorant but this has me slightly confused. On the DFI Website it states that my board has - DXG(Dual Xpress Graphics) supported. Now my question is does this mean I can run 2 Gfx cards in crossfire mode? and if the answer is NO then what the hell does it mean and how do I go about utilizing this feature? Again sorry for sounding ignorant about this but I am thinking about going 'CrossFire' if it is possible with this board. Thanks Bry. rebelangel Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 no, ATI crossfire isn't possible with this board because it's a feature that isn't supported by the NVIDIA chipset. crossfire is the multiple grafic card setup solution of ATI and it needs a crossfire ready chipset from ATI or intel. SLI is the multiple grafic card setup solution from NVIDIA and you need the nforce4 SLI chipset for this. The DXG function is there so that you can run two grafic cards for a multiple monitors setup. this means you can use 4 monitors on two cards. however "on certain revisions of this board" it is possible to mod the chipset so you can use NVIDIA SLI. search is your friend
rebelangel Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 i'm sorry i forgot to say that SLI and crossfire use the combined calculating power of two grafic cards to enhance the quality and speed. DGX is just there for more monitors and does not enhance your picture
rewen Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 As mentioned by both the ppl above, but in slightly different wording: You may have 2 video cards for multiple displays (View windows on up to 4 monitors (and 2 tvs also if u wanted)) BUT you cannot use 2 cards for enhanced graphics acceleration. Crossfire = ATI, and requires an ATI chipset with crossfire ability, and 2 ATI video cards. SLi = NVidia, and requires an NVidia chipset with SLi ability, and 2 NVidia video cards. Now.. fortunately the chipset on this board (until the next revision comes out?) is an NVidia chipset with SLI abilites (but they're disabled). You can mod the chipset and enable SLI.
