4800 overclock, can I get it higher?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys This is what I have at the moment.

-amd 4800 x2

-dfi UT Nforce sli-dr expert

-OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual

-Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200KS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

-MSI NX7800GT-VT2D256E Geforce 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video

-Water cooled with swiftec cpur block and danger den maze gpu block and double heatcore.

My surrent stable settings are:

31 degrees - CPU

30 degrees -GPU

2 instances of prime 95 going.

FSB freq -265

LTD/FSB 3x

CPU/FSB 10x

CPU VID control 1.475

Chip Voltage 1.20

chipset voltage 1.56

RDRAM 2.67v @ 180mhz 7 to 8 I believe

-cas to lat 2.5

ras to cas delay 3

Ras precharge 2

cycle time(tras ) 5

Can anyone make any suggestions on how to make Higer fsb?

Do i lower it to a 8x multi and raise my freq to like 300? Or does that dec the speed of my ram? but what is I keep it at 180mhz?

Also is it better to have more cpu than memory timings?

;)

Thanks guys!

Im running my x2 at 270x10 right now with 1.4V. Thats as far as I can go because of heat problems. Is the 31C load temp. you posted with 2x prime95 running? I want to switch to water if thats the case.

Later..Good Luck!

i left the ratios alone and just cranked the FSB. This keeps it at 1 to 1 with the memory. you need to know how high your memory can go and probably need to loosen up your memory some maybe from 2.5 to 3 just to know it's ok. My 4800+ will only get to 2.9 or so and I have to feed it 1.66vcore to get there.

firewire_pl,

Good to see you joined DFI-Street and welcome.

Did you read the guide, I linked you to? I would start by finding the max of your CPU and RAM separately, as the guide suggests.

It will answer most of the questions you are have, and you'll find a wealth of information regarding your memory timing and such browsing the OCDB and even the SPDB. Glad to hear you are using water on that chip, I got a bit nervous when you mentioned your vcore. (We spoke on PMs earlier if anyone is wondering)

As for timings, I get lowering the ratio and loosening the timing, but do i individually do it or just change the ratio...

Just drop the multi, set the timings manually to the stock ones, for now. ;)

Please add the PSU to your signature. I know it's just temporary, but that's what you're using atm.

If any other issues arise, please post them here so everyone is aware.

Thanks

-Stevo
