Hard Drives not being recognized by Windows

Recommended Posts

I just upgrading my computer except I can't get all of the hard drives to work on the SLI-DR motherboard. Four of the hard drives previously worked on my last computer, the fifth is a new one.

Currently I managed to get windows installed on one of the raptors. Windows only sees this raptor, a 131GB harddrive, and the other raptor (only I can't enable this hard drive).

I have the two raptors plugged into SATA slots 1 and 2, the 260GB plugged into slot 3, one of my DVD drives plugged into slot 4, and the remaining two drives plugged into slots 5 and 6. (The remaining DVD drive is PATA).

I updated my bios a few minutes ago and am currently downloading updated drivers off DFI's website, although I installed the ones on the CD immediately after getting windows running.

I've tried running the hard drives on the other SATA locations, but they don't work. I'm going to try running them again off 5-8 and see if that works, but any suggestions would be much appreciated.

All of these drives worked yesterday on my former intel build and about a month ago on a friend of mine's AMD build. My full computer is in my sig.

Are you installing OS on single drive no raid. If so and you have that taken care of have you gone into device manager to enable the rest of your drivers and can't enable? And you have enable all the sta ports your trying to use within bios and installed drivers where needed.

I plan to install on RAID once I get it working again. I previously had my raptors running in a RAID0.

The only HDs that show up in the device manager are the 74GB raptors and a 131GB hard drive. The 131GB harddrive was showing up when only the raptor with windows and the 260GB hard drive were plugged in.

The second raptor cannot be enabled through windows; the menu where you would is greyed out.

I will go and check to make sure I enabled all the SATA ports I'm using in the BIOS, I didn't think of that.

Thanks for the help.

all the drives except for the 260GB drive had been formated and had data on them.

Update: I'm putting the two raptors in NVRAID and installing windows on them to see if that will work.

Partition is formatting at this point in time.

I had switched from SATA to SATA RAID before I installed windows on the RAID0. I just went back and switched it, they started showing up and I installed partition magic off one of those hard drives and reformatted my last hard drive so all five work fine now.

Thanks for all the help.
