ooeric Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 ok ok im stuck between getting a new case to use for a build getting the original stacker. stc or the newer 810 both are same sizes and features. dont care about btx and mtx all that crap im gonna stick in a dual120 rad , so there goes 7 5" bays already use the HD cage. and a dvd-rw so fulls up all the 5" slots i need opinions which is better. so can fellow stacker users give me what you like and dont like? and also dont worry about telling me how long cables are. i use a tp2 in a p180 (no spare room case).. trust me cables are long enough lol im leaning towards the 810 is better cause im gonna make all the fans inside the case exhaust (obviously cause the side panel has a huge butt hole in it). and because i dont need 2 psu. (nice for a pelt.. but idc). and feature expansion.. ETX quad opterons =] (in my dreams lOL)

Confined Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Get one of the newer ones...make sure it has a cross-flow fan or whatever. Man I wish I had bought a stacker...
ooeric Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 ok i dont need guesses. LOL and what purpose does the crossflow really do? i see it on like newegg and cm.com but it doesnt show or prove what it really does

BlackDragon24 Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 help! Hey bro, I'd get the stc-101 variant as it has support for the crosfflow fan. You wanna know what the crossflow fan does.....try 32C chipset temps and 36C load....and thats with an SLI system. Not to mention it is designed perfectly to cool the Lanparty boards with the horizontal RAM slots....I've never touched my RAM and had burnt fingers. If you can afford it though, get the newest version....performance-pcs has it and it looks just silly. Edit: Looks like Newegg has the newest one in too....
ooeric Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 is the crossfan loud? i mean im probably going for stc since i use a tpii, it has a fan on the bottom. so i realize i dont really need 2 120 rear exhaust. stick a dual 120 rad in the front. so ill have like 6 fans ? lol
BlackDragon24 Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 crossfan is loud on high....on medium it is no louder than any of my other case fans.....kinda hums a little at high speed If you need more convincing about the Stacker, just PM Angry-Games or Thunda.....both of them have stackers and love them
demonR6 Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I swear by my CM Stacker. I have pics on OCForums of it fully built with wc albeit a single 120mm rad but I have since upgraded to a dual BIXII. I had to relocate the rad to the bottom of the case as the idea I had of stacking it in the bays was quickly corrected. Keeping the top component with the power etc, then a 5.25 BayRes and a cd-rom.. no way in hell I could fit that dual rad in there. I tried.. short of removing the BayRes, there is no way of shoehorning it in. I ended up removing the lower grill and placing the rad there with the fans blowing from below. Idle temps are dependent on ambient but for example, this weekend I was averaging 27c idle in the morning and around 4 or 5pm after being on all day my idle was 32c. On full load during gaming I was between 38~40c. This is running the game with and IE window downloading five or six mp3s a pop, WolfRat, and Ventrilo open all at once. The crossflow fan does work as advertized above. Running 2.7v to my ram it remains cool the entire time the pc is on. I keep it on high as the noise is not a factor as while I am gaming I have headphones on for voice. Components are kept cool and I have recorded between 4~6c temp difference before I bought the crossflow fan.
drifter106 Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 This is my second stacker, didn't want to wait for the new one. Have the cross flow fan on my first one and the high setting is somewhat loud. Didn't get it for the second stacker. Solid, well built case with plenty of room and air flow. Mounting of dvd drives are kinda of a joke but the cage for the hard drives are a plus. More usb ports than you will ever use and I definitely like the rollers (optional...they do come with them if you want to use them). Will look into the the 830 when it comes out (sell this one to my son) but they have been putting it off for so long. Last time I heard it was gonna be March. Anyway, you can't go wrong with either. The 830 I hear is gonna come in around $250 so that may be a consideration also. Oh yea, one more thing...from time to time a person needs to clean out the case (dust and chit)...very easy in this regards and the mesh screens have a filter that blows out real nice with air. happy hunting!! fyi.... first stacker has a 3500 winnie and a 6800 ultra, temps run 32 and 48 second stacker has 175 and a 7800 gt co, temps run 28 and 44 jd

RC-830-SSN1 , I've been debating about getting either this or a Lian Li. The 830 is heavy at 40 pounds, but this has me seriously thinking. I can put 4 120mm fans on there for some serious motherboard cooling. Just not sure if I like the total weight. J

J Glad to see it available..if memory serves me right, my stacker weighs in at 30 lbs. I know that extra cooling ability looks awesome. Makes me kinda wish I would of waited another month to put this thing together. Decisions, decisions!!!! Let us know what you decide!!
