Kekambas Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Which one should I buy? I mostly do 3DMark/AquaMark benchmarking, so I want to overclock my CPU alot to get higher scores. 3700+: ~$210 Opteron 146: ~$190 Pros To The Opteron: Opteron Is Cheaper Can OC Better (depending on core) Cons To The Opteron: Don't Know Which Core I'll End Up Getting (no place in Utah sells these, so i dont know whether id get cab2e or cabge) ???May not be as good for 3dmark??? Does anyone know if the 3700+ is "better" for games and 3dmark? Would love some advice. cz
shortympm89 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 well I dont know too much about everything but I love my 3700+ And I did a slight OC when I first got it, still have stock heatsink. Just pushed it to 2.4 (I like to be safe, at full load only runs 46 C with the slight OC), I think it would prolly be able to be pushed to around 2.9 when i get better heatsink/fan. Ivan OS Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Depends on stepping for Opteron, but that "3dmark" statement is false. If you are not interested in OC get yourself 3700+ San Diego.
Kekambas Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 ok then i think ill get the Opteron 146. Is there a way to GUARANTEE myself a good revision such as CAB2E, CABNE, or CABYE? The only was I can think is to buy an UNOPENED one on ebay. Isn't CAB2E the VERY BEST? cz
