THE_Nemesis Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I have about 80$ to spend on a new mouse. I will most like *not* be looking @ the G7. Seems to have a lot of issues, especially for people with big hands [like me]. So, should I buy the wired-G5 or the wireless MX1000? MX1000: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16826104158 G5: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16826104191 Thanks. If you have any other recommendations, please feel free to say.
JiveTurkey Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I like the MX518. $30 at newegg right now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16826104178
THE_Nemesis Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 But it's Optical though....is the laser a lot better?
Guest SaLadin_SS Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 i use a MX 518 and with the 1600dpi its hard to believe it could be improved upon. it even take some time to get use to the sensitivity and exactness. but in FPs there is no question it has improved my aim. Also the G5 only has one thumb buttom which i think stinks. but it does have the lightness of a corded mouse the 10000 in my opinion was slightly heavey, but im sure that can be gotten use to as well dont think you can go wrong with any of them but, for 30.00 at newegg i think the 518 is the best bang for the buck you will not be disapointed with it
Monk0101 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I have had the MX1000 for a while now. The only real difference I can tell is that the MX1000 doesn't seem to object to a glass or reflective surface as much as my older Microsoft optical mouse does. It is suprising how I get used to the fast scrolling buttons in front and behind the wheel (I do a lot of spreadsheet and database work). I also like the weight of the MX1000. Just get one that feels "right" in your hand! Oh yeah, if you get the MX1000, don't forget to throw it in the charger once a week or so! Smoken Joe Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Go to best buy or somewhere and see what fits your hand the best. I dont think there is going to be a world of diffrence between the mice I do like the G5 but I would have liked the 518 too I am sure. buckrogers Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I have the G7 (wireless version of the G5) and I find that it's ARE useful, the PTFE feet make it feel like it's floating, the on-the-fly adjustment of the DPI is excellent for when you can't quite aim using sniper... Just drop the DPI and a head shot is almost garanteed  Anyway, thats my opinion, get the G5, and if you can spare the cash, the G7
THE_Nemesis Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 How does the MX518 compare to the G5?
Black-Falcon Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I've owned both the MX1000 and the G5. I'm currently using the G5, and I love it, the weight cartriges make for a great weight, like you can make it feel ultra light, or really heavy like the MX1000. But the MX1000 is great, ZERO mouse lag, and it is precise. And the charge lasts for a LONG time. Both are really great mice though, so you have a tough descision. I suggest what someone said earlier in the thread, just go to the store and hold the grimey mouse in your hand and get the one the feels best for you. buckrogers Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 no lag with the g7 either!

buckrogers Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 I have the G7 (wireless version), and that doesn't have any lag (serious!), so I suspect the G5 won't (as thats wired)
