palehorse Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36949 On above thread I was reading it and I thought I could ask you this. See Thread of Mine> http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37101 And a similar thread of mine http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36539 I am going to use a PCIE ATI AIW Card. I have read I think I understand that with the expert board it has some improvements and I could either use A PCIE or SLI card? Also I am struggling with the CPU Coolers. I once had Zahlman CU 7700 Now I am on Zahlman CNPS9500 I see you and many others have gone to this Thermalright SI-120.... Does it really work best or is it the look? Also I can't find anything about how you incorporate a fan into the Thermalright SI-120. 1. I responded to your other thread regarding the motherboard. Stick with the SLI board, and yes, the Expert allows you to run 1 -or- 2 PCIe videocards. 2. As for coolers, there are several of them that do a great job these days, with temperature variations within 4 degrees or so. That said, I chose the SI-120 after reading a ton of reviews on it, and its XP predecessor. The results seem to be very consistent, and that's really what Ilook for in choosing my parts. With the XP-120 or SI-120 (SI is newer and taller giving it more clearance), you have to order a seperate 120mm fan. The fan then clips to the top of the heatsink using 4 clips provided with the heatsink. I chose the Silverstone fan in my sig, but the fan choice is really up to you. Alot of people have been successful with much quieter fans than the loud 39dBa fan that I'm getting. I went for pure air power with mine (110cfm), but since I've read that you're not planning to OC right away, you should probably go with something like the Panaflo, or even the Sunbeam! (Note: The Nexus fan will require you to cut the corners out using a dremel or file, in order to mount it with the clips, but it is the quietest one if that's a priority!). Some great alternative fans: - Panaflo 120x38mm Fan #FBA12G12L1A - 68.9cfm 30dBa: $13.95 - Sunbeam SLF-12-B 120X25mm Blue LED Silent Fan - 48.21cfm 21.75dBa: $5.99 - Nexus D12SL-12 120X25MM Real Silent Fan - 36.87cfm 22.8dBa: $15.99 Have any more questions, just ask!
