lowboy Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Dave was right different chips different voltages and even when using phase change below -0 C you still have to keep voltages in line. For 24/7 use on air cooling I would stay at 1.55V or below anything above your getting into the area of burning a cpu out real early. madu Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 You can bring down the temp by cooling, but still that votage is running through those transistors, BUT STILL they dissipate more heat with more voltage. YOu can take out the heat, but it is still produced in the transistors. I do think 1.66v is too much. It would be ok to benchmark with it, but running it 24/7 would be too much. Dont quote me. Please don't give your opinions again. um no. i kno there are those things about ya too much voltages can hurt ur cpu no matter what temps, but based on his voltages and his temps i said dont worry about it. i guess i should have said who cares about the volts as long as they are in the max range for your chip. o and please dont comment unless your giving your opinion or contradicting someone elses, you didnt contribute anything. learners permit Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 This chip I'm running is the single channel version of that processor and it's been running at 2.9 almost since day 1 with no problems, although this chipset only runs the memory reliably at just over 200. Throw in some temperature displays too on the screenshots for recording purposes I'd stay around the recommended voltages too unless you're willing to fry it -- would be a hell of a nice test but a costly one.
