no_nonsense4857 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Just set up my system, finally after three weeks of waiting!! Every thing up an running. I had made my own check list (a lot of customization due to the Thermal Take Big Typhoon ). I had put the CMOS jumper in clear position three days back since I knew that the components would come only yesterday . Did the press Insert Key, then press Del key after speaker beep, then load optimized defaults, save and exit. Now, the OCZ sticks show 2-2-2-5 on the sticker. But after 'loading optimized defaults' in bios, and disabling the DFI logo, I observe that the timings are shown is 2.5 - 3 - 3 - x in the screen (dont remember the x part). Any suggestions? Pls help.
RGone Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Sure does most likely if you run mostly AUTO thru out the bios and the SPD of the memory is checked and optimized is set from that. That is what the SPD is of the memory. You want tighter you got to manual set tighter. RGone...
chewbacca Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 In my BIOS I think I can adjust the settings in Genie BIOS when I switch to manual control. Is the option there on your board?
no_nonsense4857 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Oh! I thought since OCZ is displaying 2-2-2-5 on the sticker, it would do the same in its SPD memory too. So, to get 2-2-2-5, I need to manually set it in the bios, by choosing manual option right?
chewbacca Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 That's what I had to do with mine. Sorry about the late reply.
smolt Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 After three weeks of wating i would think you would allready have that clocked to 2.8 gig before you got it. Some people just dont need these boards
no_nonsense4857 Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Yeah! Say that when you come down to India and assemble a DFI for yourself. ** rolling eyes anybody? **
Angry_Games Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Stock Speed Database and Overclocking Database has all the info you should need on these particular sticks of RAM....
no_nonsense4857 Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Thnx Angry. Now that I changed the timings manually every things going fine. Would start overclocking only after I install my two PATA in RAID 0 and verify that they are working fine.
