Guest Darien Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Hey guys, I wanna get a DFI nF4 board... but I need some info... what's the difference between the Ultra-D, the SLi-DR, and the SLi-DR eXpert??? my friend has the Ultra-D and it supports SLi... so I don't know why it's $60 cheaper... and I notice that the chipset layout is different on the SLi-DR eXpert as compared to the Ultra-D and the SLi-DR TIA for the help
bp1019 Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 The Ultra-D only supports SLI with a mod to the NF4 chip. The expert has the most exspansive options.
RGone Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Click on board links on the right and you can read what each board is about... Ultra-D board does "not'' have SLi chipset from the factory so no support for SLi out of the box and no shipped SLi bridge either. Do not let net talk confuse you. RGone... Thx RGone, but those links only give processor support.... Ultra-D has 2 PCI-E slots and can do SLI... but I have to do the mod... got it.. my friend has an Ultra-D, that I built for him, I notice the jumper on the Ultra-D to choose between single video card and SLi.... Ultra-D also does SATA II - 3.0 Gb/sec so what is the advantage of SLI-DR other than supported out of box SLi.... and what is the difference with the eXpert version of the SLi-DR thanks again for the help.... I really like DFI... I wanna get the right one for me... I'm a crazy overclocker, I don't mind mods - I like them... I'm gonna start with one video card then jump to 2 later and go SLi.. I have the Ultra-D here. From looking at my manual, the DR gives you four more SATA via Sil3114, external diagnostic LEDs and FrontX module. The only difference I could find between the DR and DR Expert looks like 4-phase PWM on the expert and it looks like an extra PCI slot on the expert. hawkeyefan Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Expert will let you run 4 sticks of RAM at 1T I don't know of any other fundamental differences. Chipset placement is better.
Guest Darien Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Cool... Ths Guys, anyone know of any other differences?
Guest Darien Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 NF4-D - no SATA II, no SLI, 4 SATA headers no RAID 5, can do EZ mod to enable SATA II and SLI, no SLI birdge, only model without Dual Gigabit LAN (just single LAN) Ultra-D - has SATA II but no SLI, can do an ez mod to enable SLI only 4 SATA headers, no RAID 5, no SLI birdge SLI-D - has SATA II and SLI, only 4 headers no RAID 5, has SLI birdge SLI-DR - has SATA II and SLI, has 8 SATA headers and RAID 5 enabled, has front X (5.25 bay panel with LED's mic headphone and usb ports), has SLI birdge SLI-DR expert - new chipset layout (more space b/w pci-e slots for better card cooling), no jumpers, 4 phase power should be more stable, otherwise same as SLI-DR anything with the UT designation is mobo box only (mobo and boxed components), without UT means you get the carry bag, the sleeving kit and some other fluff. that 'bout clears it up, would be really nice if DFI had all of this posted, maybe as a side by side comparsion so new potential buyers weren't so dang confused! For me, I'm getting a NF4-D: I don't need 8 SATA Headers or RAID 5, never used dual LAN, have no use for a front X thingy, I love to mod and can easily enable SATA II and SLI. I will buy an SLI bridge when I step up to SLI ( I hear newer drivers wont need this). Considering the expert is still teething, having some issues, and offers no significant advantages other that possilby more stable power and better SLI spacing. I see no reason to spend over $90 more to buy it.
