Nehalem Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 PSU : Hyper Type-R 580W Wow reading up on this PSU it looks too sweet and seems to run quite well. Cool! have to post how it works for you
eldarie Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 hehe yeah... I didn't know crap about psu's tell someone on overclock.net kinda pointed me in the direction of the reasoning behind them... he ended his teaching with a holy bow down to the hiper R... I am pretty stoked for it, my wattage need is not that high... But I researched this computer with three words in mind: quality, endurance and expansion... and just looking at the picture makess you drool
davidhammock200 Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Stick to the "A" list & try to get an OCZ PowerStream 520W.
eldarie Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 awwww... The hiper is not on the A list???
Stonekiller Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 awwww... The hiper is not on the A list??? see: Hyper Type-R problems and: Type-R reviews I keep getting the following: It's only after Disabling External Caching and USB Memory Shadowing I can get it to work under load with my rig....Shame tho, it's a lovely LOOKING PSU! fariss Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 I'm using the Hiper in a Pentium rig. It works fine. If it had the 8 pin power connector it would be sitting in my AMD setup. I didn't want to try the adapter. However, I'm going to buils another DFI expert based system & the Hiper is going into that.
Stonekiller Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 It's only after Disabling External Caching and USB Memory Shadowing I can get it to work under load with my rig....Shame tho, it's a lovely LOOKING PSU! Scrub that, it's now doing it every time I go into Add/Remove programs, even if I use Safe Mode and log in as Admin. Just once, I wish I could USE my computer and not REPAIR it! Stonekiller Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Scrub that, Hiper PSU not to blame... I've replaced the Phillips DVD Roms for two NEC 4551A's (DVD Ram) and also rolled back the IDE drivers to the standard XP ones and I no longer get BSOD during high hard-disk usage. I also swapped the DFI cables for Akasa, though not sure if this had much to do with it...from what I've read in other post's it was most likely the drivers. fariss Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 The original Hipers had some minor problems, however they are now better. Tom's Hardware Guide just did another critique of some PSU's & the Hiper did very well.
jguizar Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 If you're going to overclock, get the OCZ Platinum Revision 2 memory. The regular Platinum doesn't clock very high even with extremely relaxed settings. J
