dragon529 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Is the nvidia or the marvell better? Is one prefer over the other? And also since there are 2 ports on the mobo, is it possible to act as a "router"?
yzrider088 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Hey do you have msn or aim, you have very similiar hardware as i do and i would like to ask you some quick questions, thanks very much
Cphelps Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 I primarily use the nvidia one but havent noticed much of a difference. I have them both installed, with the Marvell disabled so Windows doesnt classy lady about cables being unplugged to me. When someone comes over (i live in a dorm room with only 1 port and routers are discouraged since some let you distribute bandwidth and ips etc.) i plug them into the 2nd port and it works fine as a "router". I just configured it using the networking wizard in XP to say "this computer connects to the internet and another computer connects through this one." or something of the sort, selecting the Nvidia one as the one that gets the internet, and the Marvell as the one that "spits it out". I've even experimented and plugged a cord into the Marvell to a little netgear switch, and that has worked to distribute internet too. george__ Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Marvell helps when you have stuff like a lanparty et cuz it's 1 GB/s thingy but won't see difference in INternet... MARVEL = SAMBA SERVER, IPCOP, FILE SERVER, ETC NVIDIA = INTERNET, BASIC Internet
