CPC 1T and TCCD @ DDR600 Tweak Required

What I am seeking is a clear pair of eyes (yours :)) to help me see the obvious that I am missing to get 1T running on this MB with TCCD at DDR600.. thanks in advance.

 

I have been trying to work the 1T setting for high FSBs settings > 260 to enable these GeIL ONE TCCD modules to run at what they do best - high Mhz and for whatever reason this 1T setting eludes me on this MB. While there is little difference between these two settings for real world apps... it is the principle that they work in other MBs at 1T so what is the tweak needed to get them running on the Expert?

 

Up until now I have been running an Opteron 146 in the Expert and given that this is an unsupported CPU, changed back to a known and supported chip - A64 3000+. To make sure that all was still good with these known components I retested them back in the nF4 SLI-DR board and reconfirmed that DDR600 1T was still fully functional on Air.... see pic below:

Memtest will run at 275 1T with no errors (Test #8, 6 loops) but will fail Pi / Prime in Windows but set to 2T all OK all the way through to 300 see below:

Working through the OC DB here to see similar options / settings has provided some assistance to get to this current point.

My previous & good 146 died in action, so I will have to start again using my other 146 which has proved to run DDR600 1T on the older DFI nF4 MB but under air and does not look to be as good as the previous one.

Still I have tried Rgone's settings from the OC DB thread which helped a little bit to the results in Post #1, but with 100 reads of this thread I guess I was expecting some other feedback, someone else must be running DDR600 on the Expert with TCCD modules, surely? :D

 

Now to move these back to the Expert ....

Ya I'm having the same problem as yours....

I've been using Opteron 170 (0534SPMW) on my old NF4-D. Together with my pair of Geil One S TCCD, I can make it to 310MHz at 2.5-4-3-5 and 300MHz at 2.5-3-3-6..... but on the Expert board, I cannot get it stable at anything above 260MHz even with 2.5-4-3-7 timings....... I don't know what's happening. I'm going to put my NF4-D back into the case.....

Well nice to know that I am not the only one ... I have a set of GeIL BH and Ultra-X which work OK in the MB so will keep trying ... a bit of a TCCD challenge now... although the BIOS seems to need some more work, given it's functionality.

 

Ya I'm having the same problem as yours....

Amazing that you are able to string a set a coherent words together...

 

read OPB's posts at xs and you will quickly realize drive strengths are huge with tccd

I'm in the same boat. I got up to 295 1:1 but anything above that is unstable. I was able to run SuperPI at the 32M and pass, a 3dmark05, Aquamark3d, and a Sisoft CPU bench, but the OCCT stability test fails 3 minutes in at 300 1:1

I have had trouble with TCCD as well. The settings Cyberparasite points to did not help me (I tried everything in that thread, including Sierra Bound's timings), although they did lead me to try 11/1 which worked well with 2T. I asked a G.Skill Technician for support (see here), but he didn't have much to offer as far as help. One thing he did mention was that Oskar was aware of these difficulties, and was potentially working out a BIOS solution. I have PM'd him to see if there is any follow up on this matter. If anything useful comes out of this, I will let you know.

Thanks ix , yes I have seen and read many times various threads around, including ORB's one ... before posting this one here.... your thread is very interesting and I will try some aspects from it as well.. but it is clearly pointing to the MB and BIOS as all other components work as expected under other MBs DFI / Asus.

 

Lets hope that Mr Oskar Wu can work on this development.

It seems like the Ultra-D might still be the board of choice for TCCD. I sort of thought this was going to be the case, so I have decided to migrate towards BH-5. Just received a pair of Mushkin Lvl II's today.
