red930 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Found a screenshot from it .4 x SATA150 drives maxtors DM9 w/8MB cache in nvraid : Way more impressive than what I'm getting, what strip/cluster did you use? I'm sitting around 100MB/sec average, 270MB/sec burst, though I am using a large stripe of 128k and 32k cluster. (lotsa large files and such)
syar2003 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I think it was 16k stripe (always used 16 or 32 for mixed content and if OS is on it) , and i always use default cluster of 4k .
vrodforums Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Well thanks again for the information. I did dig out and try 4 Maxtor 100gb drives running raid 0 and did not get near as good of results as you did but the drives are still very fast and do what I want them to do. I guess I will have to spring for a couple more 250gb like I usually run now. http://www.v-rodforums.com/member/bench/drivetest.JPG

Sorrento Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 How many drives can be set up in a single raid array (using SATA drives)? What I mean is can I use four drives in a single raid 0 array or would I have to split the 4 drives as two. I did a search but was unable to find the answer. Thanks in advance. Max Using 4x Hitachi SATA2 right now in a single array RAID-0 (16/4)... I think 32kb stripe size works best for 4 hdd, but diference could be minimal.
