Fasha Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I'm just setting up my new rig and was looking around and noticed that there were 2 different chips for SATA HDs on the Expert board. I was wondering which one is better for a raid configuration and if I would have to take the floppy drive out of this computer to install the drivers. dave24 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 i`m using the nvidia raid drivers and have had no problems, most people will say these are the better of the two and you will need the floppy drive as the raid drivers are on the floppy disk I'm just setting up my new rig and was looking around and noticed that there were 2 different chips for SATA HDs on the Expert board. hmf Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Both are fine. The main difference is that the nvidia raid supports SataII and sil only SataI.
deff_ins Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 i ran some tests: sil3114 vs nf4 test setup: in sig (with raptor raid0) tools: hd tune on nf4 i had better read/write speed, better burst speed on sil better accses time, lower cpu usage i recomend nf4
