Manga Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 I just got myself a SLI mainboard, new mem and the EVGA 7800GT CO. I'm now looking for a new PSU for my rig. Pretty soon I hope to have a second 7800GT and maybe with this mainboard I'll get my cpu a little higher than I could with my old nForce 3 mainboard (2600MHz @ 1.6V). Next year I would like to get myself an AMD X2. What I would like the new PSU to have is cable management, two PEG connectors and sleeved cables. Can anybody give some advice? Dunno if this should be in this section, otherwise a moderator can move this topic.
LowGun Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 The OCZ powerstream 520 is a great PSU for the money and has 3 sets of prewrapped connectors as well as sleeved mainboard connectors and the case is real shiny metal that looks great! Manga Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 What about these ones: http://www.enermax.de/engl_index.php?secti...dmain=1&pdid=51 http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-65zf.htm There should be enough Amps on the 12V rails. And are they good for DFI boards? 2x7800GT CO Venice 3200 oc'ed One or two hdd's
Wolverine Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Hiper TypeR 580W modular is a great PSU Check it out http://reviews.pimprig.com/power_supply/hi..._us_version.php http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=257&num=
gr8golf Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 If you like quiet PSU's - check out the Seasonic S12's. My only complaint is that the cables aren't sleeved. (Not sure why either)
Crazy Drummer69 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Another vote here for the PowerStream, I've got the Modstream and I'm quite happy with it

(Not sure why either) This one caught my attion as well. Along with the Silverstone 650W en Enermax 600W PS. What's your opinion of the S12 600W? gr8golf Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 So far I really like it. My biggest requirement was quietness, and it very much fits the bill. I don't have a way to measure the power on the rails, other than the diagnostic programs. I'd buy another one, and the rebate price at Newegg makes it even better. Manga Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 My rig looks nearly like yours and a silent PS is nog what I need. It just should give enough power. Have you got anything oc'ed or is your system running @ stock?
gr8golf Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I have done *some* overclocking, but am mainly working on a problem getting SLI to work. I'll be OC later.

Ok, you'll hear its power, but on the other hand your system of 2x7800 isn't supposed to be very quiet. It has four 12V rails. century child Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 The Enermax Liberty is another great choice. I'm very pleased with mine. It has an excellent efficiency rating and the 8 pole power plug (convertible to 4 pole) that the expert and most likely many other future boards going forward will require.
