Corsair 3200XL Socket selection and Bios settings

Recommended Posts

I am new so please bear with me.

I am confused about which sockets to install Corsair 3200XL 2 X 512 Mb sticks in.

Yellow or Orange? The DFI Chart Indicates that double sided DIMMs need to be installed into DIMM 1 and DIMM 3 to run at DDR400 speed. DFI also says that for good performance DIMM 2 and DIMM 4 should be used. I would appreciate tested recommendations on this as well as overclocking recommendations for this MOBO-Memory Combination.

Orange Slots.

Use the timings found in the following thread:

As a side note:

I used to have the same memory you do. It works great at stock speeds but was terrible for overclocking the system. Even a 100Mhz OC to the CPU caused the system to become very unstable.

I switched to the memory I currently have in my sig and got a 20% OC without any effort.
