CCC Problem

Recommended Posts

This may have nothing to do with the DFI board but I ran the overclocking utility that comes with CCC (5.13) and, while it seemed to give me a nice overclock, 3DMark05 barfs out almost immediately when I ran it at the new settings. After reboot and reset OC to default, 3Dmark05 worked okay.

Any ideas or advice??

ATITool was great with the X800XL but doesn't work for X1?00 series yet and I trust it more since it searches for artifacts AND monitors temperature rather than looking at temp.

ati tool vers 0.25 beta 10 dont work with RX1800XT 512 , i get artifacts at the standard clock

I had problems with atitool not starting properly due to some driver issues, but I got it to work on 5.10 - 5.12 in win32 and win64, havent tried 5.13 yet due to catalyst not uninstalling/installing. so it is fully compatible with the x1800xt, it may be driver related or some conflict elsewhere. i did see one glitch, on startup of the 3d view, almost all the edges are artifacted, to solve this just hit scan for artifacts and go back to the 3d cube.

The gist of the discussion in the ATITool beta forums over at techpowerup.com is that ATITool can't set frequencies on X1800 properly and recommend using Overclocker or some other utility until it's fixed. There is also discussion about using the old scanning method for artifacts.

On another issue - If I play bf2 with the standard overdrive clocks I'll surely get VPU recover in about 15 minutes, have to manually set the fan to 50%, then Alt-Tab back to bf2 and, Ouila!, back in action. The built in CCC Overdrive sucks IMHO.

Yeah, and a lot of people have been having problems with this motherboard and CCC. I would get rid of it altogether, if I were you.

I'm using an 1800XL with the .25beta10, and all I had to do was switch to the :old artifact scanning method". I'll check out that forum though, thanks for the heads up.
