gus6464 Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I was wondering if the new x-fi sound cards have any issues with the expert mobo like the audigy 2 did? I would really like to buy one for my new rig.
Guest Crusader Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Apart from the info that you can find here: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32400 ... I think you should be fine if you bought it recently. I have my X-Fi installed for a couple of weeks now and (luckily) I have encountered zero problems and the OpenAL sound in Quake IV is really freakin' amazing so sweet, made it worth taking the risk of buying one. Vigi Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 "issues with the expert mobo like the audigy 2 did" What do you mean? I have Audigy 2 on my Expert and never have or heard of any issue. Should I have some issue?
gus6464 Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 There were some compatibility issues with nf4 chipset and audigy 2 cards a while back. Not everyone encountered them but there were enough reports that creative did an official statement about them. Dont really know all the specifics but something about the firmware on the card not working right with the nf4 chipset. It was mostly a hit or miss thing.
