Hippey Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 This seems to be what I need to have a stable system at 250FSB (memtest and 3dmark can be stable at 1.59 but NFS: Most Wanted shows problems until I put it up to 1.64) temperature wise, I am good, but I know how extra voltage can shorten the life of the chip.. would you guys run 1.64Vcore into a winny? Anyone know how much life I can expect out of the chip at this voltage?
AaronATX Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I have a venice 3200 that has had 1.65v pumped into it for the last 9 months at 2800mhz. Runs fine. I run a little under 1.7v to my current crappy opteron 146 to get it to 2500mhz. Personally I dont worry about voltage as long as temps are under control. Contrariedad Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I believe that concerns about overvoltage are a little over-emphasized. I've run 1.65V through a Venice for quite some time.
hawkeyefan Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 those Winnies can take it, used to run my 3200+ [email protected] 1.63v on stock cooling, lol, loaded right at
Smoken Joe Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 The question is would it really break you heart to have to get an opteron or X2 etc? 1.65 on those should be pretty much OK for a wile but more....... could significantly reduce the life. Keep it cool if you put high volts on that should go without saying.
Hippey Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Well got the XP120 with a high CFM fan blowing on it so it stays pretty cool.. and .. I really wouldn't care much if the thing died in 6 months or so, would make me upgrade to an X2 Thanks for the help!
