ATVkid Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Hi Guys, I have some Geil ONE BH RAM, and I'm trying to get it to perform at its max. I know about the -2 line of BIOSes, but am not sure what one I need for my particular board, an Ultra-D. If anyone has any feedback and/or links, they'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys, ATVkid
ncsa Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Hello For the GeIL BH modules I have had great success with 623-2 in Yellow slots with JP17 enabled for >3.2v VDimm. You need to Set Special VID control to be able to enable >3.2v in BIOS and bump to 3.3v - have a good active fan on them as well. Also as a precaution, make sure that your running Vcore is at least 0.075v above default to help protect against the high Vdimm running on the modules. Genie Settings would be something like these: 200-E-1.5-2-5-2-7-14-2-2-2-3-3120-1-E-A-0-A-A-A-Fast-A-16-D-16X-07X-D Initially use Memtest to get the HT setting, keep CPU on x8 or there abouts. Run tests 5, 6, 8 .. esp 8 - no errors then bump the HT, as soon as errors occur bump the Vdimm, depending on the modules they may get up to 265+ or more, some can go through to 275 but will also depend on the controller. When you think you have found their max point, run Memtest loop #8 for 10-20 loops, should be no errors. You may have to tweak them a bit more to get them OS stable but this is the starting point. While the modules are GeIL rated up to 3.8v, it would be wise to see where they go up to around the 3.5-3.6v mark and then wind up again the CPU. Later you can burn in the modules more if required..... > 3.6v prob. would not be long lasting if 24/7, then again it will be your call. ATVkid Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 See, I've never bothered to get into custom BIOSes, so I'm still trying to confirm that the BIOS in that link is the latest revision of the 632-2 BIOS. Do you happen to know?
ncsa Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Yes, that should be fine or use the link in my sig or try out Tmods BIOS CD as well. You can try the 704-2BTA, others have had good success with that too.
