osiris999 Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 ok i just bought an ultra-d, xfx 7800 gt, opty 146, and a FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX500-A 500W Power Supply. i hooked everything up and the leds on the board light up but when i press power every light on my case and cd roms blink once really fast but nothing happens. fans dont come on and the pc makes no noise at all. everytime after i press power the leds dont even blink only the ones on the board stay on. if i turn off the psu and turn it back on the same thing happens with all the leds blink really fast once and nothing happens. anyone have an idea whats wrong? Reinvented Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 What do the diagnostic LED's say at the bottom of the motherboard? (They are red) Have you taken a look at the Beginners Build sticked at the top of this section? It's a good read.

Reinvented Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Try powering it on with the bare minimum attached. Is your PSU a native 24-pin? What do the +12v rails look like? Are all 4 Power connectors connected to your motherboard? You should be connecting a 24-pin ATX, 12v P4 connector, 4-pin molex, and a fdd connector. The 4-pin molex and fdd are located below the cpu retention slot/bracket. Let me know..

wevsspot Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Osiris, Did you follow the DFI NF4 build guide found here at the Street? Just a simple yes or no answer. If you didn't, you need to go have a read here; http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20832 And follow all of the steps. His Fortron PSU is a 20+4 and I think it's the baby brother to the Fortron 550W that AG swears by.

wevsspot Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Ok. Reinvented is referring to the voltage rails on your PSU. They can be checked with a digital multimeter. The three important ones; 12V rail 5V rail 3.3V rail All of these should be running withing +/- 5% of the nominal voltage ratings. I saw a link posted somewhere on these forums about how to do it. I should have bookmarked it. Anyone got it?

wevsspot Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 The PSU will have to be powered up to check the voltage rails. Check the thread on "jump starting" your PSU. This will allow you to check your PSU without it being connected to your motherboard.
