SATA RAID question

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i was wondering which SATA controller i should use for my two raptors. Is there any reason to choose one over the other (appart from cable routing)? When i get my third hard disk (not to be raided) should i put it on the same controller or the other one? And if i only use one controller, do i need to load both sets of drivers when installing window?

Also, does resetting the CMOS, restoring BIOS settings or flashing the BIOS have any negative effects on RAID arrays? I don't want to loose all my data by mistake!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Use the NVraid....much better performance...I have the silicon image controller disabled completely

I run my two raptors off of nv 1&2 and my other backup drive on nv3. You only have to enable raid on nv 1&2 and you only need to load the nv raid and storage drivers at windows setup from your flopy disk.

im on the other way  i completely disabled NV Sata's and used Silicon Sata. The reason is that i can reduce the stress on the Nvidia Chipset and ofcourse my SATA HD is only 1.5Gps.
