fafol Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 So I am seeing in other posts that you should make sure to connect all 4 power connectors to your MB... does that apply to the Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR Expert MB as well? I do not see 4 power connectors on the MB, I see 3: 1) 24-pin ATX 2) 8-pin 12-volt 3) what appears to be a 4-pin floppy power connector (?) right above the PCE-e 1 slot am I correct in assuming that the Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR Expert only has 3 power connectors? And I should be attaching a floppy power jack into the socket by the PCI-e 1 slot?

Reinvented Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Yes, there's only 3 connectors. And yes, you are correct in plugging the FDD connector into the slot by the PCI-e x16 lane.
fafol Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Hmm, I wonder if that is the source of my 2 problems in my other post I never connected the FDD power connector to that 3rd socket; I just have the ATX and 12v plugged in right now
Guest thespin Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Possible but unlikely. The floppy type connector is really for SLI applications ...
fafol Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 yep, it didn't seem to fix the lockups at all, although it may have helped a little with the no video on boot
The Warden Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 and that wire stands out like a [email protected]#$%. The placement of all the wires was great for viewing till I goto that one, Ran the wire between the ram slots. and did the best I could to hide the wire. red930 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Possible but unlikely. The floppy type connector is really for SLI applications ... The floppy connector is to supply current to that area of the board. It should be connected regardless of your intentions to use SLI or not. servo101 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 I ran a few days troublefree with my Expert before I realized there was a floppy connector right above the 1st PCI-E slot. Plugged it in nonetheless. Nothing changed though, OCing didnt get any better. Just plug it in to be safe.
fafol Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 I was hoping that something simple like plugging in the connector would solve my issues. Oh well...
red930 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 @fafol The resolution to your issues lies elsewhere. I would try removing that sound card as a first step.
fafol Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 what do you mean the solution lies elsewhere? Do you mean on another site? or did you mean that it wasn't the power connector? I took your advice and removed the sound card. I am still getting no video on boot issues, and still getting lockups in video intensive apps (game).
