SPDIF onboard help

Recommended Posts

I have the audio module installed onto my motherboard and headphones work fine out of it. However, I hooked up my logitech speakers through digital coax to the S/PDIF digital out on the motherboard. The speakers say No Digital Data, and i dont see any "Digital Output" option in the sound controls either. Very confused, thanks

(i just used E:AudioA373setup.exe off of my NF4 installation cd)

I'm having the same problem. Just built my rig and can't get any sound thru the coaxial S/PDIF connection with the Nvidia driver. I tried the RealTek driver off the CD and it made sound, but only in stereo, so I uninstalled that.

Sorry, haven't had time to make a sig with specs, but it's similar to the OP's and I've got it set in BIOS to Auto. Thanks.

I've got mine connected to Logitech Z-680 5.1 speakers via S/PDIF, just as I did with my last LANParty, which worked fine.

DLed and reinstalled 6.66 drivers with no change. Hooked up the 3 cables to use "Direct 6 Channel Input" and only had center and rear channels. Verified that the cables were good (they hum when touched) and shut down, tried to pull out Karajan module, but with the backplane in, it can't be done (LOUSY design - requires removal of mobo to pull out) so I pressed it down good and solid and now the audio is working via analog connection, but NOT via S/PDIF. I'm also not getting sound via the cases headphone jack.

Everything went together really well the first time, but I've lost a couple of hours running around on this. Next steps to get S/PDIF running?

My bad..I didn't realize the logitechs had a digital input. The only other things I can think of then are bad cable or maybe you are using the input instead of the output by mistake. Have you set up your speakers in Control PanelSounds and Audio Devices?

I'm plugged into the yellow output jack and as noted above, it did pretend to work a bit with the Realtek driver. Nothing is muted anywhere; nothing slammed in Device Manager. Jumpers look good. Speaker wizard works fine with analog now. I don't get it.

EDIT: I tried plugging headphones into the case jack again and it mutes the speakers (so much for leaving them plugged in), but they don't make any sound themselves.

The case jacks may not be set up correctly, but I think they are. I didn't realize what a nightmare it would be to hook the wires to the Karajan card after I'd installed it. Questionable design call with that module. :(

As I posted in my first post of this thread:

The RealTek driver was uninstalled and all that's in place is the Nvidia drivers and control panels. I've checked all the obvious stuff with no luck.

I just installed WinDVD7 and it was only given stereo and I was about to scream when I noticed that you needed to select how many speakers you're using in the Audio Technology panel. I'm so used to the one-wire-and-done lifestyle, this is disappointing.
