ww2 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I just bought two SATA hds to use with RAID. Connected everything normally. BIOS recognised the hds in Phy SATA 1 and 2. I enabled RAID in those channels. Used the NVRAID thing to set hds to Stripping mode and Optimal block size. Booted with Windows XP x64 Edition installation cd. I created a floppy disk with the latest x64 RAID drivers from DFI's website. When I try to use the original floppy disk, the one that came with the board, to load the drivers, Windows XP installation says the driver won't work under x64. Then I try my disk with x64 drivers, the installation says an "unexpected error" ocurred when loading file xxx.xxx (example - that's not the actual file name). I know I can integrate the drivers into a installation cd using nLite. But the floppy thing should work fine. How do I solve this, other than the nLite method? Pyr0 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 use the drivers in the legacy folder of the WHQL 6.67 set on guru3d http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1192 if you have any trouble try www.planetamd64.com
ww2 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Does it have to be the 6.67 version? I extracted the last one, 6.69, but there´s no legacy folder (the only thing related I found was a "IDE" folder). What should I do? Pyr0 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 yes, it has to be the 6.67 drivers i recently reinstalled xp x64 onto a RAID0 myself
ww2 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 But why doesn't the last nforce drivers version have the necessary files?
ww2 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I don't know which drivers from the "legacy" folder of 6.67 to integrate: nvatax64.inf or nvrdx64.inf? I tried to integrate both, but it doesn't work.
ww2 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I'm still having trouble here. One of the drivers shows as "SCIAdapter" type (in nLite), the other as "HDC". Which one? Help?
Fernando Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I know I can integrate the drivers into a installation cd using nLite. But the floppy thing should work fine. How do I solve this, other than the nLite method? You cannot install the native 64-bit nForce SataRaid drivers (from a chipset package higher than 6.56) by F6/floppy. You have to integrate them into a bootable CD by using a tool like nLite. Here is the guide: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&sho...ndpost&p=352404 CU Fernando
ww2 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Thanks for the answer. Well, I integrated the nvrdx64.inf one, installed XP without pressing F6 and everything worked fine. Using 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.7. Just one more question: - Is it possible to activate NCQ when running under RAID? My two hds are NCQ-capable, but I don't see any options to activate NCQ in Device manager, as it would normally be. Does that mean I'm not taking advantage of NCQ? Kudos. Yes, it is possible to activate NCQ when running under RAID. AFAIK you have to activate NCQ within the device manager. Here are some details about NCQ and Seagate: http://www.seagate.com/pdf/whitepaper/D2c_...tx_sata_ncq.pdf CU Fernando
hmf Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 That's funny, my Seagates show NCQ in device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI ControllersNvidia Serial ATA Controller.
