should i reset my CMOS?

Recommended Posts

I had to RMA my MOBO, and am awaiting a replacement. My old one was not booting and was staying on the DFI screen when turned on, or would stay on various Diagnostic LEDs, when i recieve my new one i was wondering wheteher i should reset my CMOS battery or not, before installing system?

Yes, I would recommend resetting the CMOS before the first run, as this should revert to default (conservative) setting that will allow the system to POST whatever the previous setting was.

I would expect that the mobo is sold in this (deafult) state anyway, but for example in my case, when I first put my X2 into new NF4 SLI-DR, it couldn't POST, just stayed at 3 LED's. As soon as I cleared the CMOS, everything went fine.
