Heavy Crashes (not BlueScreen)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I bought my Mobo and Video Card a long time ago (6 months or so)

I have the Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR and the BFG-Tech GeForce 6800GT OC.

The problem is, I'm getting low voltage warnings sometimes, and FREQUENTLY my computer will lock up during Guild Wars video game while playing on medium settings. The computer will black out, but remain on and the sound will stutter. It becomes unresponsive to even the hardware power button, and requires being unplugged from the wall to get it to reboot. I'm sick of having to do this, and it's probably adding wear and tear to my computer.

Here's a readout from Everest Home Edition:

GPU 57 °C (135 °F)

GPU Ambient 51 °C (124 °F)

and

Voltage Values:

CPU Core 1.30 V

+3.3 V 3.31 V

+5 V 4.78 V

+12 V 11.71 V

+5 V Standby 4.84 V

VBAT Battery 3.04 V

Debug Info F 35 FF 25

Debug Info T 49 52 51

Debug Info V 51 49 CF B2 B7 5C A2 (41)

I talked to BFG and they suggested I re-flash my bios. I did that.

I talked to BFG again and they suggested I purchase a new PSU. I did that (680w great brand).

I talked to BFG AGAIN and they suggested I purchase a UPS. I did that (a snazzy beast of a battery, supposedly cleans the wall power).

I'm sick of talking to BFG because all they've done for me so far is made me spend more money. I'm running the most current video drivers from Nvidia, but that did not solve the problem.

The rest of my machine specs should be below. What should I do?

While, ironically, my computer crashed as I had "Savage" (video game) running windowed in the background trying to procure this information. I right clicked on the taskbar, and the computer locked up.

Here's an screenshot of the most recent process that had a warning. Note, however, that the last several crashes have not had any important logs in the system log. They've all been "information" which seems benign enough. Suffice it to say that there are no significant entries where the crashes occured, though I can include shots of them if someone wants.

Sorry, nothing to solve your problems but just to say having exactly the same sort problems as you are.

My computer will lock up in a game. The computer will black out, but remain on and the sound will stutter. It becomes unresponsive to even the hardware power button does not work, but the reset works for me. Doing this has corrupted windows and have gone through all the boot problems like NTLDR is missing, hal.dll is missing or corrupted and there had been a couple of others.

Tried with only 3 drives connected and now freezing even in folders after being switched on for 2 to 3 minutes.

Down to one drive and hav'nt really tested for long to see if locking up.

All the temps look good. MemTest no errors etc

Also only using 1 6800GT and updated to latest bios.

Getting a 620W power supply this week to try but I have feeling it's the NF4 SLI-DR. Had mine 7 months and sick of having my head stuck in case alway fixing some sort of crisis. Have a PIII machine I would not swap for this.

If the power supply is not the problem going to cut my losses and will be getting something else.

I don't think I'll ever be getting another DFI board in a hurry anyway.

Now I am getting pissed.

As I pack up my BFG card to be RMA-ed, I wonder again if the problem may be with the motherboard. A very long time has gone by, and it seems no one has any idea what the solution to this problem is. I have no choice but to contact DFI support and see what they have to say.

Thanks anyway,
