noob question

Sorry if this question sounds stupid but I couldn't find the answers anywhere else.

The max I can OC my cpu at a comfortable voltage (1.54) is 260.

Now I'm testing my ram. Is there any point in pushing it beyond 260? Instead, shouldn't I be aiming to get the tightest possible timings on the ram @ 260 so I can match the cpu 1:1?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Depends on how you want it overclocked. Personally I'd find the highest the RAM would go first, then use a lower multiplier and dividers if necessary to get optimal speed out of both. If you can't have both then get the highest cpu speed you can get.

Some guys still claim 1:1 is best (its not) but if you feel safer doing that then yeah go for tighter timings if you like.

1:1 if acheivable is still better than dividers. The speed at which your CPU communicates with your memory will show up more places than benchmarks. The difference is small, but those looking for the most they can get from their system will always try for 1:1

Guest thespin
how do you know what the max of your cpu is?

did you take the ram out of the equation by putting it on a divider to find the max of your cpu?

That's right ...
