gongkia2000 Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Hey guys, been having this great pair of rams for the past 6 months or so, this problem just popped out. I got myself a new cpu (fx55>4400 dual core) and thus cleared my CMOS on my DFI Ultra-D, and strangely it couldn't boot. Then, I used some spare ram and voila! Boots fine. I tweaked with the placing of rams on the board but to no avail. I have to reboot a few times in order for it to kick off. Now I am running them @ 269mhz @ 1.5-2-2-0 @ 3.4v. Memtest stable! Weird issue. Hope to be able to fix this with new BIOS revision.
Guest Joey Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Let me know how you make out.. I upgraded from an FX 53 to a dual core Opteron 175 (basically identical to an x2 4400) and I've been having problems with random lock ups during boot (before getting to Windows... I'll get past detecting the processor.. and it'll ususally lock before detecting the IDE drives). It happens maybe half the time. I've tried different memory and different placements of the memory to no avail. I posted my full problem in another thread so I won't go into it here. I'd like to hear from more people regarding experiences upgrading from a single to a dual core processor.
